Hollywood has dominated the film industry for far too long.

It's time for a change.

Hello there, I am an aspiring film director, enigmatically titled.. The Lazy Mouse?! Huh?! I'm an aspiring female director from the UK who is also looking into other creative skills including graphic design, 3D render and animation, writing, visual effects, video game production and art. I've been wanting to enter the film industry since I was 7!

Who am I inspired by? Definitely Hayao Miyazaki. The guy's a genius. Princess Mononoke is a masterpiece, if you haven't watched it here's your sign to! I absolutely love Shakespeare even if it's good at scrambling your brain. Especially Hamlet... perhaps I'll adapt that one day. I also love The Tragedy of Macbeth by Joel Coen. Coraline is a great animation. Jean-Pierre Jeunet, director of Amélie, does have rather odd characters... but the editing is beautiful. David Fincher is incredible, Fight Club is amazing... wait I forgot rules 1 & 2. No talking about Fight Club, but definitely watching it haha! Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan are amazing directors... but enough, this is sounding too like an ad for them! But still... do check them out.

What kind of content will you create? Honestly... everything! I am very passionate about preserving nature and reminding us humans that we're still part of the ecosystem. My genre is magical realism, not quite fantasy or fact... something in between the both. Telling ordinary stories in an extraordinary way.

What is Waves Studio? Waves (as I call it cause... shorter) is my company and child! We are going to give creatives a place where they can express themselves. We're going to take risks. This isn't gonna be a big budget thing nor for profit. Waves Studio will NEVER be owned by a big company or conglomeration. So, please don't offer. I'm not interested in your money, and will respectfully decline any offers.

What's your real identity? Sorry, I can't reveal it! Lazy Mouse is a pretty stupid name, right? but it was, I guess... the best one I had. Does it matter anyway? I have an identity crisis 24/7 haha.

Can I contact you? Absolutely! I may be shy but I am very interested in work experience as a young creative. I'm gonna be honest... not a lot of practical, hands-on experience over here. I can write you an essay about a film, but I didn't come into this industry to do that. I'm not interested in permanently securing a job under a big name, as I'm my own person, but right now I'm definitely interested in a temporary job! I am also interested in volunteering, as due to my lack of experience in this industry a paid position may not be great. But I promise I'll put my soul into all I do.

What about outside of work? Can I drop in and say hi? Absolutely! I'm pretty shy and very busy, but I am very sociable once you get to know me.

What’s your stance on AI? I am not pro OR anti AI. It has a place and a purpose. It cannot produce content suitable for post-production or release. Just look at the way ChatGPT writes... it always sounds the same, this lyrical sounding nonsensical garbage. AI will never replace us but it can advance us. I am strictly against AI using any content without consent. It's not advancing human knowledge, it's just copying and remixing what's been done before. You want to politely ask a researcher if you could feed AI their work to advance science? Sure. You want to rip off millions of small artists who live off the pennies in their pockets? ... I don't even have the words. How is it legal? It is not a human thus it is not copyright. ALL AI images are in the public domain, so if someone claims to "sell" it or own it, it's a scam! It's as much your right to use it as anyone's. As for human created content, I don't really support copyright law OR free domain, as it's designed for the creators to profit above anything - I am against plagiarism, we should credit where credit is due. I do not believe that AI is a major threat to the film industry. With the sad state it's in, we may see AI blockbusters. They may seem to be quality, they may appear creatively done, but they can never be original, or human. They'll never match the quality of a true movie master. AI isn't some crazy fad that's going to disappear on us, nor are we going to have a singularity or sentient AI causing the apocalypse or whatever. It is not alive. We just have to learn to live with it. Contrary to popular belief, AI has existed for a loooong time. If you ever used edges2cats, you probably saw this coming.
